Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us.

Effective Date: August 11, 2025
Last Updated: October 9, 2026

Introduction

Welcome to Timeboard, a world time zone application developed by KK ME LTD ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy describes how our app handles your information.

Privacy-First Design: Timeboard is designed with privacy as a core principle. Core functionality stores data locally on your device, and we do not sell your data to third parties. We offer optional analytics to help improve the app - this requires your explicit consent and can be disabled at any time.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data when you use our mobile application available on Google Play Store.

Information We Collect

1. Location Information

Timeboard may access your device's location information for the following purposes:

  • Automatic Timezone Detection: When you choose to add your "Current Location" to the world clock, the app requests coarse location permission to determine your timezone
  • Dynamic Location Updates: If enabled, the app can update your current location's timezone when you travel to different time zones
  • Permission Type: We only request "coarse location" permission (city-level accuracy), not precise GPS coordinates

Storage: Location data is stored locally on your device in the app's private database. We do not operate servers that store your location data. The app follows your Android backup settings - if you have enabled backup in your device settings, this data may be included.

Control: Location access is entirely optional. You can use all core features of Timeboard by manually adding locations without granting location permission.

2. User Preferences and Settings

The app stores your preferences locally, including:

  • Time format preferences
  • Date format preferences
  • Selected world clock locations and their display order
  • Widget configuration settings
  • App theme and display preferences

Storage: All preferences are stored locally using Android's DataStore and SharedPreferences systems on your device. The app respects your device backup settings configured in Android Settings.

3. Feedback System Data

When you choose to submit feedback or seek support through our in-app feedback system, we collect information to help us understand, diagnose, and resolve your issue:

  • Your Message: The feedback text, issue description, and category you select (e.g., Bug Report, Feature Request, General Feedback)
  • Optional Contact: Your email address (entirely optional). If provided, it is stored securely alongside your ticket strictly to send you transactional notification emails when our support team replies. You can edit or remove your email address at any time directly within the app
  • Device & System Diagnostics: Basic diagnostic details including app version, device manufacturer and model, Android version and API level, language, country code, system timezone, available and total RAM, number of saved locations, and active widget count
  • Clock Locations Diagnostic (Optional): If you choose to enable the "Include Clock Locations" toggle, technical details of your configured world clocks (city names, time zones, coordinates, and custom display labels) are included to help diagnose time conversion or calculation issues. You can preview this diagnostic data before submission and choose to redact city and custom location names for added privacy
  • Photo & Screenshot Attachments (Optional): You may optionally attach images (e.g., screenshots showing visual bugs or unexpected behavior). Image attachments are uploaded securely and stored in encrypted cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) with an automatic 180-day retention rule, after which they are permanently deleted
  • Anonymous Device Token: A randomly generated device identifier token is used solely to link your submitted tickets to your device so you can view conversation history and team replies in-app without needing to create an account or provide personal credentials

Control: Feedback submission is entirely voluntary. Basic diagnostic information is included automatically to help us diagnose technical issues, while clock location diagnostics and image attachments require your explicit choice. You can preview diagnostic information before sending.

Local Ticket Management: You can hide or remove any support ticket from your local device view at any time. When removed, your device will no longer fetch or display the ticket.

No Sensitive Data: We never collect passwords, personal messages, contacts, photos from your camera roll without your explicit selection, calendar entries, browsing history, or biometric data through the feedback system.

4. Optional Analytics Data

User Consent Required: Analytics data collection requires your explicit consent through a consent dialog shown on first launch. You can change your preference anytime in Settings > Privacy.

When analytics is enabled, we collect:

  • Feature Usage: Which app features you use and how often
  • Screen Views: Which screens you visit and navigation patterns
  • General Location Regions: Timezone regions (e.g., "Americas", "Europe") - never exact locations
  • Performance Data: App startup times, search performance, and error rates
  • User Behavior Patterns: General usage patterns like location count tiers (e.g., "1-3 locations", "4-6 locations")
  • Device Information: App version, Android version, device type (for compatibility)

Privacy Safeguards:

  • No personal information, location names, or exact coordinates are collected
  • Data is inherently anonymous (no user identifiers) and aggregated into patterns (e.g., "users with 3-5 locations", "most popular timezone regions")
  • Usage metrics like widget counts and feature usage frequencies are collected without linking to individuals
  • You can disable analytics anytime in settings
  • When disabled, all analytics data is cleared from your device

Purpose: Analytics helps us understand which features are most valuable, identify performance issues, and prioritize improvements that benefit all users.

Third-Party Services

Timeboard connects to the following external services to provide location features, secure attachment storage, transactional notifications, and optional analytics:

Service Purpose Data Shared Privacy Policy
Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) Location search and geocoding Search queries, coordinates for reverse geocoding OSM Privacy Policy
BigDataCloud API Timezone detection from coordinates Latitude and longitude coordinates BigDataCloud Privacy
Web Map Geolocation Fallback location detection in map picker IP address (sent to a third-party service by the web-based map picker to estimate an initial map view) Various services
Google Play Services Device location services (when permission granted) Coarse location data Google Privacy Policy

Important: These services are contacted when you use location-related features, submit feedback, or have analytics enabled. Firebase Analytics only operates when you have given explicit consent and can be disabled at any time.

App Dependencies and Libraries

Timeboard uses various software libraries and dependencies to provide functionality. Most of these are offline libraries for UI, data storage, and app functionality that do not collect or transmit data. Some libraries that may have privacy implications include:

  • Google Play Services: Used for location services (covered above)
  • Chrome Custom Tabs: Used for displaying web content, may be subject to Google's privacy policies
  • Android System Libraries: Standard Android components that may be subject to device manufacturer and Google policies

  • Manually delete locations or reset app settings
  • Uninstall the application
  • Clear the app's data through Android settings

Feedback Data: When you submit feedback:

  • Support Records: Feedback messages and conversation history may be retained in our support system to track bug fixes, monitor app reliability, and verify resolutions across updates
  • Attachment Expiration (180-Day TTL): Uploaded screenshot attachments are automatically and permanently deleted from Cloudflare R2 cloud storage after 180 days
  • Device-Level Removal: You can remove any ticket from your device at any time within the app, which stops tracking and hides the conversation on your device
  • Email Removal: You can edit or remove your saved email address at any time in the app settings, which clears it from future notifications
  • Backend Deletion Requests: You can request complete deletion of your feedback records and contact details from our backend servers at any time by contacting us
